A woman from Gillingham has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison after a shocking road rage incident that left a man injured. Lauren Willis, 28, was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent following an attack that occurred on the A249 near Bobbing on 31 May 2024.
The incident began when Willis, driving a Volkswagen Golf, and the victim, in an Audi, became embroiled in a dispute regarding her driving. After both vehicles stopped near a roundabout, Willis deliberately drove her car at the man, causing injuries to his face, teeth, and hands. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.
Willis was arrested two days later in Ware, Hertfordshire. In addition to her prison sentence, she has been disqualified from driving for five years and nine months.
Detective Constable Rob Sircar commented on the case, stating, "Willis' driving that morning was nothing less than appalling. She put her victim through a terrifying ordeal and it is only by good fortune that the consequences were not far worse. I’m pleased that Willis has been jailed and that she will be prevented from getting behind the wheel upon her release."
